Tsunami Pebbles Create Ripples of All American Change
We believe in sharing and recognizing All American ideas, acts, and the people that bring them to the world. We hope doing so inspires you to do good daily, to aim higher, and to help others. Throughout the year, and across this site, we highlight the individuals, organizations, deeds and stories that we believe best exemplify what it means to be All American.
To celebrate these contributions, we have developed a series of what we call, Tsunami Pebble Awards.
What is a Tsunami Pebble? It is a new way to describe an old concept. A Tsunami Pebble is something that, like a stone dropped into water, causes a chain of ripples. These ripples travel outwards and effect the surrounding world. The same can be said about wonderful ideas and courageous actions. They too hold the power to dramatically affect the universe we live in.
Most pebbles only cause a tiny ripple. Now imagine a pebble with enough inherent power to create a tsunami sized wave, growing stronger and larger the further it travels! Like an asteroid landing in the ocean, we believe some ideas, some actions, some people, and some events are powerful enough to create a wave, or a tsunami, of All American change.
Tsunami Pebbles create ripples that make things better. Sometimes their ripples start with a simple act of human kindness or even defiance. Other times they come at great risk, and require great sacrifice. Sometimes a Tsunami Pebble happens unknowingly or unintentionally. Other times it take years of preparation and persistence for their tsunami to become a meaningful force. Sometimes they require a united and committed community. Other times it simply takes one individual. Regardless, Tsunami Pebbles are important. They shape our world. They should be acknowledged.
We celebrate All American Tsunami Pebbles both formally through The All American Awards, but also through our online interviews and articles. Let us know if you would like to nominate or share a Tsunami Pebble with others.
