Born On The Fourth of July!
Focused On An Even Better Future
Like our nation, WeAreAllAmerican.org was born on the 4th of July. We love it! We are proud to be Americans, and are not ashamed to say so; or, to try to make our country better. If you feel the same way, our movement might be right for you.
Today, the 4th of July is controversial. Our Founding Fathers are heroes to some, scoundrels to others. The topic is a source of division. Our founder were men of action, but all were also mere men. Like all men, then and now, they had their own sins to answer for, some more than others. We do not spend much time on whether, or which of, these men were saints or sinners.
We instead focus on what principles, what models, what ideals, and what solutions are best for All Americans, today and in the future. That said, in general, we believe, regardless of how these people modeled their words in real life; most, if not all, of the ideals and ideas embodied in our country's founding documents are universal and timeless. The goal should be for All Americans to embody these words of wisdom...into action, into policy/systems, and into our daily realities.
Today, as a result of current disagreements, many think the Constitution should be totally rewritten, and others consider it cut in stone. Our position is more nuanced. Our people should be able to alter our laws and our Constitution, but NOT haphazardly. The changes should be based on proven principles, not political power moves, and not simply to appeal to the values or social norms of a day. Values change, principles, like gravity, do not. Principles are universal laws. As such, we contend, a Constitution must be based on timeless truths.
We believe The Declaration of Independence (and Bill of Rights) sum up the most important of principles and provide the framework for a wonderful set of ideals. All men (and women) ARE created equal. All people, everywhere, should be free to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Freedom of speech, religion, and the like, are God given rights. Man can only temporarily take these things away from people. No matter the struggle, no matter the time...in the end, truth, justice and equality prevail. All Americans believe in making these ideals happen, now, not later.
